HOSA career day Friday

BLOOMINGDALE — Students in the Future Health Professionals-Health Occupations Students of America at Jefferson County Joint Vocational School are sparking interest in the health field with a Career Day event Friday.

Members of the health technologies program are hosting local colleges and professionals during the lunch period from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and representatives will be on hand to speak to all students about available opportunities. Tammy Sismondo, program instructor and HOSA adviser, said career days have been held in the past and about nine organizations will be present this time.

Among those planning to attend are Trinity Health System, Trinity School of Nursing, WVU Medicine Weirton Medical Center, West Virginia Northern Community College, Belmont College and the Jefferson County Health Department. Sismondo said it was open to all JVS students and the goal was to help them figure out their career plan post-graduation.

Board of elections to meet

STEUBENVILLE — The Jefferson County Board of Elections reorganizational meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday.

The board’s regular monthly meeting will follow, Director Robert Gale said.

The meeting will be held in the elections offices in the Tower building, 500 Market Street, Steubenville.

Chamber home show canceled

STEUBENVILLE — The Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce’s annual Spring Home Show has been canceled for 2025.

Chamber President Emily Byers said the event, originally scheduled for this weekend, was canceled due to transitions within the chamber. She said the event will return in spring 2026.

JVS sets special meeting

BLLOMINGDALE — The Jefferson County Joint Vocational School board of education will hold a special meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the school’s boardroom for the purpose of the posting of a position for a public employee. Action will be taken.
