Some holiday help

As part of its annual holiday observations, the City of Weirton partnered with the Weirton Festival Committee, Board of Parks and Recreation, and the Mary H. Weir Public Library, with additional support from Form Energy, to collect donations of non-perishable food items and toys to benefit the Salvation Army in its Christmas distributions. Collection boxes were available, in recent weeks, at several city facilities, with donations accepted during this year’s Christmas on Main Street. The Salvation Army has more than 300 families from Hancock and Brooke counties registered to receive assistance this holiday season. — Craig Howell
