Traffic reminder issued for Christmas on Main Street in Weirton
WEIRTON — With the holiday season celebrations kicking off this weekend in Weirton, officials are offering a reminder of some traffic changes being made in connection to one of the community’s biggest Christmas festivities.
Christmas on Main Street, organized by the Weirton Festival Committee and the City of Weirton, will be held from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, with activities focused on Main Street near the Millsop Community Center.
According to information provided by the Weirton Police Departments, road closures for the event will be held from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday, on Main Street between Cove Road and Marland Heights Road.
Traffic detours will be established through the following routes:
Vehicles traveling south on Main Street will be diverted onto Cove Road to U.S. 22 westbound, then to the Main Street exit, if needed;
Those traveling west on Cove Road, wishing to travel south on Main Street, will be detoured north on Main Street to Lee Avenue, where they can turn left onto Lee Avenue and then travel south on West Street to the intersection with Marland Heights Road, and back onto Main Street;
Motorists heading north on Main Street, will turn onto Marland Heights Road, then travel north on West Street to the Lee Avenue intersection, then going east on Lee Avenue to Main Street.
Law enforcement notes signs also will be posted along the east- and west-bound lanes of U.S. 22 to alert drivers of the closures, and to use alternative routes.
