The Jefferson County Commissioners have proclaimed Nov. 4 “Color the Day Orange,” a nationwide effort to increase awareness of complex regional pain syndrome — also known as reflex sympathetic dystrophy — a poorly understood nerve disorder dating back to the Civil War that causes chronic pain. County residents are encouraged to wear orange that day to show solidarity for those afflicted with CRPS. Taking part were, from left, Commissioner Eric Timmons; local organizer Daisy Luyster, whose sister suffers from CRPS; and Commissioner Dave Maple. == Linda Harris
