Port authority board to meet

STEUBENVILLE — The Jefferson County Port Authority will hold a board of directors’ meeting at 4:30 p.m. today in the Jefferson County Port Authority office on the first floor in the Jefferson County Tower Building, 500 Market St., Steubenville.

The finance committee will meet at 4 p.m. in the same location prior to the meeting.

Springfield trustees to meet

BERGHOLZ — The Springfield Township Trustees will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at 722 Monroe St.

Arrest made following altercation

WEIRTON — Another man has been arrested in connection with an altercation that occurred in the 3900 block of Washington Street on July 28.

City Police have charged Trenton Majewski, 18, of 707 Market St., Steubenville, with wanton endangerment in connection with the incident.

According to police reports, Zebulan J. Lawrence told police Majewski was outside his Washington Street home waving a handgun and threatening him, causing him to flee in his vehicle on July 28.

The 22-year-old Lawrence was arrested earlier for malicious assault for allegedly striking Majewski with his vehicle during the same incident police said involved a group of men.

Cases against the two men are pending in Brooke County Magistrate Court.

Man charged following ATV pursuit

FOLLANSBEE — A Wellsburg man has been arrested following a police chase involving an all-terrain vehicle on Aug. 5.

Ryan J. Johnson, 18, of 1914 Main St., has been charged with fleeing from an officer and with reckless indifference to others.

According to police reports, City Police said they observed Johnson veering across the center line of Allegheny Street on his ATV at about 1 p.m. Aug. 5.

Police said they followed Johnson as he proceeded at a high rate of speed on Main Street and to Mahan Lane and Eldersville Road, observing him slide across the wet pavement at curves in the two roads.

They said Johnson nearly struck officers in vehicles that had tried to stop him on Main and on Allegheny Street before the chase was called off at the latter street.

The case against Johnson is pending in Brooke County Magistrate Court.
