Edison approves bus facility construction bid

HAMMONDSVILLE — The Edison Local Board of Education has approved a $474,000 bid to construct a new multi-purpose bus facility for the district.

Officials approved Hively Construction Co. Inc. of Canfield perform the work during the Oct. 21 regular session at Stanton Elementary. Hively will construct a 563-square-foot metal building complete with a metal roof, driver’s lounge and two restrooms on 3 acres of land located nearly a quarter mile from the Edison High School campus in Richmond.

Work could begin next week and Superintendent Bill Beattie said the company was already familiar with the district.

“They are doing the (Edison High School) gym and halftime locker room and concession area,” Beattie said. “Hopefully, we’ll have a completion date by April 1.”

The facility will accommodate about 20 district buses and vans since the current site was being used for the new softball field at Edison’s Unified Sports Complex.
