Annual Chamber golf classic upcoming
STEUBENVILLE — It’s an event that dates back more than 30 years, and it’s one of the biggest fundraisers held by the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce.
The annual golf classic is a tradition that brings together golfers, volunteers, staff and chamber members and their employees each spring for a day of food, drink and friendly competition. This year’s outing will be held Tuesday at the Steubenville Country Club. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., with a shotgun start set for 10 a.m.
The golf outing committee begins meeting early each year to ensure the event runs smoothly. John Cucarese of New York Life is the event chair for the 10th-consecutive year. Other committee members are Jenn Cesta of the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County; Jim Morgan, past chamber chair; Brad Degenkolb of the Holiday Inn of Weirton; Chris Orris of Valley Hospice; and Tricia Maple-Damewood, chamber president.
Longtime supporter Trinity Health System returns as the title sponsor. Other major sponsors include DeNoon Lumber, Newbrough Photo, MPB Print and Sign Store and Franciscan University of Steubenville. A shrimp and bloody Mary bar, compliments of the Laurels of Steubenville, will open the day, along with a continental breakfast and coffee.
Other event sponsors include: 1-888-Ohio Comp; A&B Sunset Pharmacy; Ambulance Service Inc.; Apollo Pro Cleaning and Restoration; Barium and Chemicals Co.; Capital Healthcare Network — Carriage Inn of Steubenville and Gables Care Center; Cattrell Cos. Inc.; Checker Transportation; Hollywood Family Eyecare; IBEW Local No. 246; Jefferson County Auditor E.J. Conn; Jefferson Security Services; M&M True Value Hardware; McKinley Architecture and Engineering; New York Life — John Cucarese Financial Services; the Laurels of Steubenville; the Upper Ohio Valley Building and Trades Construction Council; and Voto Manufacturing Sale Co.
In addition, many chamber member businesses sponsor door prizes, items for the buy local gift card tree, tee signs and more.
Last year, more than 175 were in attendance, including those who played, volunteered, came for dinner and prizes or just stopped by to say hello. There are a few sponsorship opportunities available, and limited team space available. You do not need to be a chamber member to play.
The cost is $150 per gold and includes golf, cart, beverages all day, a boxed lunch and a complete steak dinner. Call the chamber offices or e-mail Maple-Damewood at firstname.lastname@example.org for information or to reserve a space.
