Harrison County Sheriff’s Dept. announces drug arrests

JEWETT — The Harrison County Sheriff’s Department made two unrelated arrests during the weekend that resulted in more than 20 grams of methamphetamine being taken off the streets.

Ryan Hennis, 34, of Jewett was arrested Friday for felony possession of drugs.

Sheriff Joe Myers said deputies found Hennis slumped over in his vehicle in Jewett. While attempting to wake the driver, deputies allegedly saw drug paraphernalia lying in Hennis’ lap, which led to a search of the vehicle. Myers said 19.8 grams of methamphetamine was discovered in the search.

Hennis was arraigned Monday in Harrison County Court. He remains in jail on a $50,000 bond.

On Sunday, a second drug arrest was made — Maria Flickinger, 33, of New Philadelphia was arrested for possession of drugs.

Myers said deputies observed a red Honda that was pulled off the side of the road with a faulty exhaust. After investigating, deputies discovered Flickinger, the occupant of the vehicle, had an active warrant for drug possession out of Tuscarawas County. Flickinger was placed under arrest and the vehicle was searched. Myers said 2.26 grams of methamphetamine was discovered along with two other bags containing unknown substances — one had a grey substance and the other a brown substance. Additionally, pills were located that Flickinger allegedly stated were “molly,” also known as ecstasy.

Myers said all the drugs were processed into evidence and taken to the drug lab for analysis.

Flickinger was arraigned Monday and jailed on a $2,500 bond. Myers commended deputes for their work this weekend.

“I would like to thank deputies for a job well done in law enforcement’s efforts to keep dangerous drugs out of our communities,” he said.
