One dead in late Monday shooting on North Seventh Street in Steubenville

STEUBENVILLE – One man is dead after a shooting in downtown Steubenville late Monday.

City Police were called at about 11:40 p.m. to the area of North Seventh Street and Franklin Avenue. Police said a man in his 30s was found dead, with several spent shell casings near him, in an alley behind American Legion Post 274.

Authorities didn’t immediately release the man’s name, saying they were in the process of gathering information and had taken as evidence a parked car nearby that had been pierced by bullets.

Police had received a 911 call after shots were heard in the area.
