Sheriff candidate to hold forum

WELLSBURG — Chuck Wright, a candidate for Brooke County sheriff in the June 9 primary, will hold an open forum for residents to discuss issues in the county from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Bald Eagle Shelter at Brooke Hills Park.

The meeting will offer the opportunity for residents to share their concerns with Wright.

Social distancing guidelines will be in place, the candidate explained. Those who attend are asked to bring their own pencils and paper to submit questions.

Weirton Council to hold workshop

WEIRTON — Weirton Council is set to meet in a work session at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Room 201 of the Weirton Municipal Building.

The agenda includes a review of the June 8 regular council agenda, and update on the revision process of the city’s Unified Development Ordinance, the structure of the Code and Planning and Development departments, the city’s garbage ordinance and cleanup, an update on the 2019-2020 fiscal budget, and the possible consolidation of the city’s fire department.

Mingo recreation committee to meet

MINGO JUNCTION — Mingo Village Council’s Recreation Committee will meet at the large shelter house at Aracoma Park, at 5 p.m. Friday.

Township zoning board to meet

WINTERSVILLE — The Cross Creek Township Zoning Commission will hold its next regular meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Cross Creek Township garage located at 1267 Cadiz Road, Wintersville.

The meeting is open to the public, however social distancing guidelines will be strictly followed. Slip repair work to start today

NEW MANCHESTER — The West Virginia Division of Highways advises that today through June 19, county Road 3, Washington School Road, will be closed at milepost 1.62.

This closure will occur weekdays, from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. and is necessary for slip repair. Temporary traffic signals will maintain traffic during non-working hours. Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route.
