MINGO JUNCTION — Students at Indian Creek Middle School are spending their time at home, but they are doing more than their studies with a special program.

For the past few weeks, students have posted activities with such topics as “The Five Things You Are Grateful For,” “Simple Acts of Kindness” and “May Memories.” Their responses are being uploaded on the school’s Facebook page.

Michael Minor, one of the lead teachers who spearheaded the project, said it began several weeks ago to engage the students and even help others.

“We began this as part of a teacher meeting and discussed how to feature the kids in this strange time,” Minor said. “About 40 participated in the first round, but I think numbers will drastically increase mainly through exposure to the activities on Facebook.”

He added that feedback from the students has been positive and activities would continue throughout the school year as people become more familiar with the concept.

Student and staff submissions can be found on the Indian Creek Middle School Facebook page.
