Unclaimed property info available
WELLSBURG — A representative of the state Treasurer’s Office will be available to check unclaimed property claims for residents at 11 a.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at the Brooke County Courthouse.
Unclaimed property can range from forgotten utility deposits to final paychecks and usually is held by a bank or company, which reports it to the treasurer as unclaimed.
Individuals also can learn if they are entitled to unclaimed funds by visiting wvtreasury.com.
Health board will discuss personnel
STEUBENVILLE — The Jefferson County Health Department board will meet at 6 p.m. today to discuss personnel matters, according to health Commissioner Nicole Balakos.
The meeting will be held in the health department offices, located in the Towers building, 500 Market St.
Public input sought on calendar
WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 5 p.m. Monday to accept public input on the calendar for the 2020-21 school year.
The meeting will be held at the board’s office at 1201 Pleasant Ave. The calendar also will be voted on by school personnel before being considered by the board at a future meeting.
Road projects will affect traffic
WEIRTON — The West Virginia Division of Highways, on Wednesday, advised of two area road closures to address maintenance needs.
In Brooke County, Greens Run Road will be closed 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays, beginning today and lasting through March 6, to address a slip repair. No through traffic will be permitted, and motorists are advised to seek an alternate route.
In Hancock County, a portion of Gear Road, approximately one-half mile from the intersection with Washington School Road, will be closed from 8 a.m. today through 4 p.m. Feb. 24, for a culvert replacement. Alternate routes are recommended.
