Visions and dreams
As guest speaker at an ecumenical service held Sunday by the Martin Luther King Jr. Association at Finley United Methodist Church, the Rev. Michael Harrison, pastor of Union Baptist Church in Youngstown, reflected on the Biblical tale of Joseph, who was persecuted for his dreams but persevered with God’s help. He compared Joseph’s situation to that of King and others who fought for civil rights for all and blazed trails for minorities in other ways. To Harrison’s left is the Rev. Benjamin Calvert II of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, who led the service, which featured music from the Praises in Bronze Bell Choir, Finley Choir, Delore Wiggins, the Brooke High School Madrigal Choir and Vicki Littlejohn.
