Ohio Valley Media Day Blood Drive has new location

WHEELING — The Ohio Valley Media Day Blood Drive has a new venue this year.

The 34th-annual event will be conducted at Wheeling Island Hotel Casino Racetrack from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday.

Previously, the blood drive was held at WesBanco Arena.

The blood drive is dedicated to the memory of Wheeling lawyer James Bordas, who died in 2019, said Phyllis Riccadonna, spokeswoman for American Red Cross Blood Services.

“Jim was a brilliant attorney and man of faith, who fought for his clients, the less fortunate, and his community,” American Red Cross officials said regarding Bordas.

All presenting donors will receive a free commemorative T-shirt. Refreshments, free parking and babysitting will be provided.

To schedule an appointment for the blood drive, contact the American Red Cross online at www.RedCrossBlood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS. The sponsor code is OVMediaDay.

Sponsors of Ohio Valley Media Day include the Herald-Star; The Weirton Daily Times; The Intelligencer and Wheeling News-Register; The Times Leader; Wheeling Island Hotel Casino Racetrack; Bordas and Bordas; Century Hospitality; Bath Fitter; iHeart Media; WTRF-TV and WTOV-TV.

The Ohio Valley Media Day blood drive is organized by the American Red Cross Blood Services, Greater Alleghenies Blood Region.
