Finance committee to meet
WINTERSVILLE — The Wintersville finance committee will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, prior to Wintersville Council’s regular meeting, at the Wintersville Municipal Building.
Christmas light-up set for Monday
FOLLANSBEE — The city’s Christmas light-up will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the Ray Stoaks Plaza.
There will be music by Twice as Nice, a visit by Santa Claus and hot chocolate cookies served inside the City Building.
Attendees may stand or bring chairs.
Edison sets special meeting
HAMMONDSVILLE — The Edison Local Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday at Stanton Elementary School.
The purpose of the meeting is a work session to discuss the development of athletic facilities at Edison High School.
Retail sales show decrease
STEUBENVILLE — Gross sales in Jefferson County decreased about 7 percent in September compared to the same period last year.
Jefferson County Treasurer Raymond M. Agresta said gross sales for September totaled $73.2 million, generating $1,098,009 in piggyback sales tax revenue for the county.
Agresta said piggyback sales tax receipts for September 2018 generated $1,185,782 based on gross sales of $79.05 million. Monthly gross sales have averaged $75.63 million in 2019, compared to $68.47 million a month in 2018.
