Utility updates moving ahead
NEW CUMBERLAND — The city’s water and sewer committee met Nov. 12, opting to move forward with updates to both the city’s water and sewer systems.
The water project is moving along faster than the sewer project, officials explained. The city will have more information on the water line and treatment plant update after a conference call with their engineers, legal counsel and the United States Department of Agriculture next month.
The city is still waiting for Ram Industrial Services to provide a quote on the new vacuum station pump for the sewer system. Officials have not received insurance money on the claim yet, because the insurance company needs to see the quote to complete the claim. The sewer project will be updating the city’s existing sewer treatment plant.
The city had water bills totaling of $17,114 and sewer bills totaling $39,567. The committee agreed to pay both.
