In 1959, Pat Ambler started a 4-H club in York, outside of Adena, with 10 members and continued on through the years with clubs of different names. Her children and grandchildren were members of the clubs. She was honored for her 60 years of service to the 4-H organization as an adviser, 4-H committee chairman and key leader at the Jefferson County 4-H Advisers Appreciation Banquet and Election at the Le Chateau Pier. Other advisers with long years of service were Donnelle Tonner, 52 years; Joyce Wetherell, 49 years; Carolyn Piergallini, 45 years; Stella Puskarich, 44 years; Karen Hill, 39 years; Robin Wedlake, 38 years; Jeff Wood Sr., 37 years; Debra Grimes, 35 years; Elwyn and Judy Saiter and Karen Thomas, 34 years; Mollie McConnell and Cliff Wood, 33 years; and Tom McConnell, 31 years.
