JB Green Team moving locations
STEUBENVILLE — The JB Green Team is hoping to be in its new building in the Jefferson County Industrial Park by the start of the new year.
Executive Director Anita Petrella said they’d originally planned to build, but when the R-Way building in the industrial park came on the market they couldn’t say no.
“We’d bought a lot, we were going to build,” Petrella said. “But across from that site a building came open that’s ready to go, it’s almost what we were looking for. We can be in before the dead of winter.”
Petrella said they’ve got a purchase agreement, but closing has not been scheduled.
“The JB Green Team has always rented, we’ve never owned a building or space,” Petrella said. “Our trucks have never been under cover in winter or summer or anything. We’re trying to get a permanent address, get them under cover and in a heated garage.”
Petrella said the 12,000-square-foot building won’t need much in the way of renovations.
“(It will need) very minor renovations, probably painting,” she said. “It’s what we were looking for almost to a T.
In addition to garage space, Petrella said there’d also be plenty of room for administrative employees. She said JB Green currently has 10 administrative staff members and drivers.
“We’re very excited,” she said. “We’ve never had our vehicles under roof before, especially in the winter. It’s rough when they sit out … they rust, they won’t start (in cold temperatures) because they’re diesel. We’re really excited to get in before winter. Our trucks sat out last winter, we don’t want to go through that again.”
She said the R-Way property gives them room to expand down the road, if necessary.
She said JB Green had been looking for a new home for years, “and now we found it.” adding buying vs building makes a lot of sense.
“It was actually cost-effective,” she said.
“We’re very excited to move and to finally have a permanent address for the solid waste authority,” she said. “We’ve never had a permanent site for our offices or trucks. We’ve very thrilled.”
