Board OKs goals for 2019-20

NEW CUMBERLAND — The Hancock County School board approved Superintendent Dawn Petrovich’s goals for the 2019-2020 school year at Monday’s meeting.

Board member Tim Reinard, suggested Petrovich review the state’s evaluation system.

“I think they’re great, the only thing I’ve got to caution you on is a problem we’ve suffered through for three years. The state has an evaluation system, look on the 26 pages of that,” said Reinard. “Some of those questions relate to stuff that’s used. So check to make sure you’re covered.”

Petrovich did review the evaluation system when writing her goals, accounting for state regulations and requests.

“I appreciate that she put in some mnemonics around percentages and things so thank you for adding those additional things in there” said Michelle Chappell, board president.

The board approved the goals and will be submitting them to the state board of education.

In other action, the board:

¯ Approved the resignations of Elizabeth Sisler, multicategorical-autism at Weir Middle School; Ashley Turley, multicategorical-autism at Allison Elementary; and Ash Leigh Negri, countywide substitute teacher.
