Steubenville concert


STEUBENVILLE — Thursday’s concert at the Berkman Amphitheater was postponed due to rain.

Hewlett and Anderson and Eli and the Mojo Kings had been slated to perform.

The performance, part of the city’s Summer Concert Series, has been rescheduled for Aug. 29, according to Judith Bratten, director of Historic Fort Steuben.

The series will continue next Thursday, when Spinning Jenny and US Kids will take the stage.

Vehicle damaged

with manhole cover

STEUBENVILLE — City Police took into custody a man suspected of throwing a manhole cover onto the hood of a vehicle in the 100 block of North Fifth Street around 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

Officers were told by witnesses the man had picked up the manhole cover and threw it onto the hood of the vehicle, causing significant damage. Officers were searching the area for the suspect and arrested a man who fit the physical and clothing description and who was walking in the 100 block of North Sixth Street.

He was taken to the Jefferson County jail on pending charges.

County issues two

water boil orders

WINTERSVILLE — Due to separate water line breaks, the Jefferson County Water and Sewer District has issued water boil orders for Empire and Irondale through Saturday afternoon.

Truck overturns

on U.S. Route 22

PARIS, Pa. — Area emergency personnel responded Thursday morning to an overturned tractor-trailer in the westbound lanes of U.S. Route 22 just before the West Virginia-Pennsylvania state line.

One individual was extracted and transported for medical care. The incident affected traffic in both directions for several hours.

Personnel from the Weirton Fire Department, Hancock Township Volunteer Fire Department, Ambulance and Chair and Pennsylvania State Police were among those who responded.

Woman sentenced

on escape charge

STEUBENVILLE — Amber M. Blancato, 27, of 4341 state Route 646, Bloomingdale, was sentenced by Jefferson County Common Pleas Judge Joseph Bruzzese Jr. on Wednesday to six months in the Eastern Ohio Correction Center after pleading guilty to charges of escape and possession of cocaine.

Blancato was arrested by City Police on June 9 on a misdemeanor charge. Due to a medical issue, she was taken to Trinity Medical Center West, where she was placed on a police hold. Blancato was told by the officer not to leave the hospital or she would be charged with escape. Police were notified by the hospital that Blancato had fled the emergency room. She was apprehended outside the hospital.

Blancato will be on probation for two years after her release from EOCC. She faces two years in prison if she violates probation.

Bergholz man

faces sentence

STEUBENVILLE — Christopher J. Monigold, 31, of 250 Second St., Bergholz, was sentenced on Wednesday by Jefferson County Common Pleas Judge Joseph Bruzzese Jr. to six months in the Eastern Ohio Correction Center after pleading guilty to a fleeing charge.

Monigold was arrested by the Ohio State Highway Patrol on May 24 and charged with failure to comply with the order of a police officer.

Monigold will be on probation for two years. The judge also suspended Monigold’s driver’s license for three years. Monigold faces three years in prison if he violates probation.

Township trustees

change meeting date

MINGO JUNCTION — Steubenville Township trustees have moved their scheduled meeting of Tuesday to July 23 at 6 p.m. at the township offices, 25 state Route 151.
