Vietnam vets

should call office

STEUBENVILLE — Veterans who served on vessels in the waters off the coast of Vietnam may be eligible for benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs, according to Schelley Brooks, executive director of the Jefferson County Veterans Service Commission in Steubenville.

There has been a recent court decision that expands the definition of “in country” Vietnam to include service members who served on vessels in the waters off the shore of Vietnam, Brooks explained. “If you served in the waters off of Vietnam and have medical conditions that could be attributed to your exposure to agent orange, please call us for more information,” she said.

All veterans who fit into this new expanded category are encourage to contact the office at (740) 283-8571.
