DiCarlantonio selected to county board of elections
STEUBENVILLE — Frankie DiCarlantonio III, Jefferson County Democratic Party chairman, has been selected by the party’s executive committee to be one of two Democrats on the county board of elections.
DiCarlantonio will serve a four-year term beginning on March 1. He will be succeeding Frank Bruzzese on the board.
“I am proud to be the chairman of the Jefferson County Democratic Party, and I am happy to have been appointed to serve the Democrats of Jefferson County as one of two representatives to the Jefferson County Board of Elections,” DiCarlantonio said
Members of boards of election are recommended by their political party’s executive committee. DiCarlantonio was unanimously voted as the Democratic Party’s recommendation at its meeting on Jan. 28.
The recommendation is forwarded to the Ohio Secretary of State’s Office, which makes the appointment of the individual who will serve on the board of election.
Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose officially appointed DiCarlantonio on Feb. 7.
LaRose will administer DiCarlantonio’s oath of office on Feb. 21 at the Ohio Statehouse. He will be joining fellow Jefferson County Democrat Lou Gentile on the board.
Matt Parise, county Republican Party chairman, and Brian Scarpone are the two Republicans on the board.
“It was my pleasure to serve on the board,” Bruzzese said. “We have the best director, deputy director and election clerks in the state.”
