Weir High to present classic play for holidays

WEIRTON — The classic inspirational holiday play, “It’s a Wonderful Life” will be presented at 7 p.m. Dec. 7-8 and 2 p.m. on Dec. 9 in the Weinberg Theater at Weir High School.

In the Weir High School play production, George Bailey, played by senior Joseph Clutter, has his dreams of escaping the small town of Bedford Falls and finding adventure in the world quashed by Mr. Potter, played by senior Dakota Wagner, and by the misfortunes of life.

It is only when George’s guardian angel, played by junior Demitri Riter, proves that George is worth more to his family and friends alive than dead, that George rushes home to celebrate Christmas with his wife Mary, played by Madison Carroll, and his beautiful children.

Weir High School drama club sponsor Debra Marino said she chose this play because of the inspirational seasonal message and the wide array of charming characters, including Bert and Ernie, Aunt Tilly and Uncle Billy, Violet and George’s younger brother Harry.

Tickets for the production are $10 at the door and $7 in advance. Groups of 20 or more may make advance arrangements for half off tickets by contacting a cast member or the school at (304) 748-7600.
