Turkey Trot benefits Weirton United Way

More than 100 runners and walkers turned out Saturday morning to participate in the Weirton United Way’s inaugural Turkey Trot 5K at Marland Heights Park. The event included a toddler dash, a 1-mile kids fun run and the namesake 5K. Participants also were encouraged to bring donations of nonperishable food items, which were provided to the Community Bread Basket and the Salvation Army. A costume contest, judged by Mayor Harold Miller, also was held. Proceeds from the race will go to the Weirton United Way’s 2018 campaign.
