Personnel matters discussed by Edison

BERGHOLZ — Personnel matters were the main topic during Thursday’s regular meeting of the Edison Local Board of Education meeting at John Gregg Elementary School.

The board approved supplemental contracts for Jessica McCallister, Virtual Learning Academy; Cody Kuntupis, assistant boys’ soccer coach; Holly Johns, freshman volleyball coach; and Dakotah Goff, assistant wrestling coach.

Also approved was the substitute list for the 2018-19 school year. Additions made to the classified substitute list included Nicole Striker as a cook and Tara Givens as a secretary/aide. Non-certified employee renewal contracts were approved for bus drivers Joseph Atkins, Rebecca Carr and Francis Martin; paraprofessional aide Kathy Gill; paraprofessional library aides Maggie Shafer and Diana Snyder; and cook Lori Haught.

Amber Decker and Hannah Boggs were approved as aides for the visually impaired. Mark Thomas was added as a bus driver.

The board accepted the resignation of Wendy Howell as district Destination Imagination coordinator. Kelly Doppwill serve as her replacement. Keely Drabick was approved as assistant volleyball coach. She had previously served as a volunteer coach.

Board members also:

¯ Approved a business advisory council agreement with the Jefferson County Educational Service Center.

¯ Set May 24 as the date of high school graduation.

¯ Approved overnight field trips for the Futures Farmers of America Club to Green Hand Camp Friday through Sept. 30 at Camp Muskingum and to the National FFA Convention Oct. 25-27 in Indianapolis.

¯ Signed an agreement with the Jefferson County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

¯ Approved the high school choir’s request for a field trip to Chicago March 21-23.

¯ Accepted the following grants: $276,000 for early childhood preschool; $3,636 for agriculture education fifth quarter; $39,255 for early literacy; $800 for Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Literacy State Systemic Improvement Plan; and $1,514 for 6B Restoration

¯ Accepted an anonymous donation of $2,000 to John Gregg Elementary School for student needs.

¯ Agreed to dispose of three older school buses and a 1996 Ford van.
