Steubenville police

Let’s talk: Callers complained of possible prostitution in a vehicle parked in a field in the 600 block of N. Eleventh Street, Friday. En route to the field, police encountered a motorist with a Pennsylvania registration leaving who told them he’d been parked there so he could talk with his passenger. Police told him he needed to find another place to talk.

Booked: Robert James Smith, 45, 1588 State Route 43, Richmond, criminal trespass, Friday. Smith was caught inside a vacant property in the 600 block of Ross Street that had been posted against trespassing, police said. He’d previously been removed from the residence and warned not to return.

Yelling: Callers said an intoxicated man wearing a red hoodie and blue jeans was yelling and causing a disturbance outside an apartment in the 800 block of N. Sixth Street, Friday. Police located the man who told them the argument was about him getting ripped off on “dope,” but nothing physical had occurred. He consented to a search but no contraband was found. He was told not to return to the location.

Cranky: A caller told police a man was harassing, cursing and otherwise threatening passersby at Beatty Park and thought police needed to check on him, Friday. Officers said the man told them he was “trying to take a walk to clear his head and was getting frustrated that everywhere he went he ran into other people.” He was advised not to bother other people.

Throwing change: A woman driving on Sinclair Avenue said a white female in what appeared to be a tan Buick SUV began driving erratically and throwing change at her car, Friday. She said the strange behavior continued all the way to the mall, and once she pulled into the parking lot, the woman started arguing with her. She has video of the woman and said she’d like to pursue charges because of the scratches on her car.

Barred: A man insisted he left his phone on the bar at Pee Dee’s, even though the owner told him it wasn’t there, Friday. She said he refused to leave even after she told him it wasn’t there. He finally left and walked to the police station, and after speaking with an officer said he was going to go back to the bar to look again. An officer intercepted him and told him he was no longer welcome at the bar and if he returned, he would be arrested and charged with criminal trespass.

Sound check: An Arlington Avenue rear resident told police his neighbors are using some advanced technology to project noises onto his property, Saturday. He showed the officers a sound meter he keeps to show decibel levels of sound, but they advised him they didn’t hear anything and would make several passes throughout the night to check the area for noise.

Booked: William R. Bell, 49, 1419 Adams St., Steubenville, domestic violence, Saturday. Officers responding to reports of an active disturbance reported seeing Bell throw a cell phone at a female and while trying to talk to her, said he was disrupting and continuously interrupted them. She told police he’d allegedly been drinking and had become very aggressive toward her in front of her children.

Pushy: A female who’d been arguing with the upstairs tenant at a building in the 1400 block of Ridge Avenue for most of the night started banging on the door and broke a window of their common entry door, Friday. When another tenant told her to stop, she tried to push into that woman’s apartment before fleeing the area. The caller described the woman as short with short hair wearing a pink jacket and blue jeans.

Heard: Callers reported hearing seven or eight shots fired in the 300 block of S. Fourth Street behind the Greek Church, Friday, but an officer who was patrolling that area said he didn’t hear anything and when he canvassed the area on foot didn’t find anything out of the ordinary. Other officers who checked the area found nothing out of the ordinary.

Hit-skip: A car parked in the 100 block of Harding Avenue was struck overnight by another vehicle which was abandoned in the roadway, Saturday. Police said both vehicles had a broken axle and heavy front passenger side damage. The driver of the suspect vehicle, a silver Ford Focus, abandoned it in the roadway, blocking traffic, police said. It was impounded.

Money taken: A Cleveland Avenue resident thinks someone he knows moved $500 out of his account using his CashApp card, Friday.

Funny money: A bald male wearing blue scrubs and pink crocs allegedly purchased $60 in merchandise at Walgreens with a counterfeit $100 bill, Friday.

Shattered: A resident in the 700 block of N. Seventh Street told police someone broke his front passenger side window out overnight, Saturday. He said nothing appeared to be missing.

Cited: Dalton Delcourte, 19, 71 Creek Road, Burgettstown, Pa., making a U-turn in a prohibited area. Delcourte told police he realized he was going in the wrong direction on John Scott Highway and tried to make a U-turn but was struck by a car following him.
