Jefferson County sheriff

Found: A burned out 2011 Chevy suburban was found on private property in Brush Creek township, Monday. Deputies said the VIN number was unreadable but they were able to locate a license plate in the grass and discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen March 29. Deputies said the vehicle is a total loss.

Problem: Callers reported an intoxicated male causing problems at a Toronto residence, Tuesday. Individuals were clearing junk from a family property when they said an older man who’d had too much to drink began arguing with them, claiming three vehicles on the property belonged to him. He left before deputies arrived, but they located him and advised him to stay away from the property.

Steubenville police

Jumped: A man who was walking in the vicinity of Seventh and Adams streets said he was jumped by three or four men, Tuesday. He said he was able to defend himself and his attackers fled, but told police he couldn’t describe them and wouldn’t recognize them if they were located. He told police he only called for help because his arm hurt and he needed to go to the hospital.

Chased: A man reported being chased by three unidentified males from Ohio Street to a vacant property in the 1400 block of Plum Street, Tuesday. The caller said he didn’t know the men and wouldn’t be able to describe them, and officers were unable to find anyone suspicious in the area.

TKO: Callers reported two females fighting in the roadway on Washington Street hill, Tuesday. When officers arrived they said the street was “checked and clear.”

Harassment: A Tweed Avenue resident told police an older family member was harassing her and threatening to assault her, Tuesday. The woman said the older woman was upset over some comments she’d allegedly made about her.

Trashed: A woman in the 300 block of Woodlawn Avenue said two men visiting a neighbor’s house moved her trash can out of the roadway, and when she asked them to put it back where she had it claims they came on to her porch and screamed at her, Tuesday. The men denied moving the can or arguing with her.

Waiting: A man who was lying on the ground under the train overpass told police he was waiting for a ride from his mother, Wednesday.

Served: Jennifer S. Fletcher, 35, 235 S. Eighth St., Steubenville, turned herself in on a warrant for failure to appear, Tuesday.

Cited: Devon L. Russell, 25, 155 Nessley St., Empire, red light violation.
