Hit and run: A man punched another man in the jaw as he was leaving the midtown Speedway, Wednesday. Witnesses said a large woman also walked up to the victim and yelled in his face, then fled with the man and another woman. The victim’s jaw was red and he had two small lacerations inside his cheek but told police he didn’t want to pursue charges.

Taken A resident in the 1300 block of Oregon Avenue said a woman walked off with a small floor jack that he’d left on his porch, Thursday. While the officer was talking to that property owner, individuals several houses away called him over and said a woman “stumbling down the street, holding the jack and screaming about her man being inside” threw the jack through their window when they said he wasn’t there. Officers went to the woman’s residence but couldn’t make contact with her. About an hour later callers reported “a loud explosion and a small fire” in the vicinity, and upon arriving on scene officers located two pairs of shoes on the sidewalk that were on fire. A neighbor threw a bucket of water on the flaming footwear. Due to the ashes, officers were unable to determine what had ignited the shoes.
