Vitalant schedules blood drives
WHEELING — Somewhere in the United States, a patient requires life-saving blood every two seconds. Vitalant is calling on eligible donors to visit a drive to avoid a summer blood shortage, as many are vacationing during the Fourth of July holiday. One donor who gives blood between July 9 and July 31, will win a car of their choice, according to Vitalant officials. To see the terms and conditions regarding the car giveaway, visit vitalant.org/cargiveaway.
All blood types are helpful, with Type O and platelet donors being especially needed, as O blood can help patients of most blood types, officials added. Platelets help stop bleeding and must be used within a week of the donation. Those interested in helping can view the eligibility requirements or make an appointment online at vitalant.org, by downloading the Vitalant app or by calling (877) 25-VITAL.
