Steubenville resident Lucas Rinehart swapped his library card for a new, limited-edition one designed during the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County’s National Library Week art contest in April. The library system invited the public to submit artwork for a new card design, with more than 200 entries submitted. Winners were selected by voting on Facebook, and included Killian McCleary, 8; Victoria Yendo, 17; and Cecelia Coakley, 10. “This was a great way for the community to get involved with their library and excited about having a locally-designed card in their pocket,” said Library Director Mike Gray. Residents can choose their favorite design at all library branch locations, and through the Bookmobile. New cards are free to Ohio residents and $2 for replacements. Out-of-state residents pay $10 for the family. Cards are available, while supplies last.
