Chamber to hold Burger Bash
STEUBENVILLE — The Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a Burger Bash and Cornhole Tournament from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 5 at 185 Franciscan Square. Tickets are $30 each and includes one meal, two drink tickets and endless fun, according to organizers. A $200 cash payout will go to the winning cornhole tournament team. Music will be provided by Lee the dee jay.
Sponsorships are being sought, chamber officials announced. Those wishing to contribute to being a sponsor can do so at various levels.
The levels include: A Burger Bash Sponsor will receive business recognition on all event signage and social media, along with two event tickets, $125; an Entertainment Sponsor will receive four tickets to the event, recognition in all press releases, prominent social media recognition and inclusion on all event signage, $600; a Burger Bar Sponsor will receive four tickets to the event, recognition in all press releases, prominent social media recognition and inclusion on all event signage, $600; and a Presenting Sponsor will receive eight tickets to the event, event partner recognition in all press releases, prominent social media recognition and inclusion on all event signage, $1,200.

Science center to show film
PITTSBURGH — This summer, residents will be able to “journey to one of the most untouched corners of the planet without ever leaving Pittsburgh.” The Carnegie Science Center will be showing the film “Ocean Paradise,” in 3-D and in 2-D on the city’s largest screen at the Rangos Giant Cinema. The film will be shown through September, according to officials.
This immersive 40-minute documentary transports viewers 1,000 miles southwest of Hawaii to explore remote, pristine national marine sanctuaries teeming with life. Follow scientists as they investigate how these ecosystems can help combat climate change, ocean acidification, plastic pollution and more. Featuring never-before-seen footage from the Rose Atoll Marine National Monument, “Ocean Paradise” brings audiences eye-to-eye with coral reefs, dolphins, whales, sharks, fish and a variety of protected species.
Perfect for adventurers of all ages, this family-friendly cinematic journey offers a rare chance to see nature at its most raw and resilient. The film is narrated by actress Diane Lane and features music by Coldplay and Jack Johnson. Tickets are $10 per person or $8 for Carnegie Museums members. Senior center to hold dances
WEIRTON — The Greater Weirton Senior Center will hold two oldies dances per month through the end of the year, according to organizers. The next dance is scheduled to be held from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. July 3 at the center, located at 3425 Main St., across from the Millsop Community Center.
Those attending are asked to bring along a covered dish to share with guests. The main meat dish will be provided by the center. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m.
The cost will be $10 for singles or $15 per couple. A 50/50 drawing will be held.
All dances are open to the public.
Additional oldies dances have been scheduled for the following dates, all beginning at 6 p.m.: July 17, Aug. 7, Aug. 21, Sept. 4, Sept, 18, Oct. 2, Oct. 16, Nov. 6, Nov. 20, Dec. 4 and Dec. 18.
