Community center to hold dinner
EAST SPRINGFIELD — The East Springfield Community and Recreation Service Center will hold a community dinner from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at the center, located on county Road 39 next to the firehouse.
The menu will consist of pork roast, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, bread, dessert and a drink for $12.
Dine in or carry out will be available.

Rosemont Chapel to hold VBS
STEUBENVILLE — Rosemont Chapel will hold Vacation Bible School beginning Monday and running through June 20. The event will take place daily between 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
The VBS is open to children ranging in age from 6 to 18.
Officials are asking the community to come and join its glowing party, as this year’s theme will be “Glowing with Christ.”
An adult class will be held during the same time for anyone interested in attending. The chapel is located at 23 Williams Blvd. in Steubenville.
Juneteenth celebrations planned
WEIRTON — The Weirton Ecumenical Council will sponor two days of Juneteenth celebrations.
This year’s theme is “One Body, Many Parts.” A revival service is planned for 6 p.m. on June 20 at Christ the King Church, located at 3176 Weir Ave. The event’s revivalist will be the Rev. Samuel Williams.
Activities are being planned between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on June 21 at the Weirton Event Center, located at 3322 East St.
Larry Branham will serve as master of ceremonies. Gospel entertainment will feature the WEC Choir, Melanye Wares, ReKonception, Linda Ross Brown, the Rev. Karen Wayne, the Edmunds Brothers and 180’s Baby. Bobbyjon and Pamela Bauman of the Sycamore Youth Center will be among those addressing the audience.
Guests attending are asked to bring a lawn chair. Free snacks will be available. For children there will be arts and crafts and bounce houses.
Sponsors of the Juneteenth events include the Weirton Ecumenical Council, Christ the King Church, Morning Star Baptist Church, Mount Olive Baptist Church, Shiloh Apostolic Faith Assembly, St. Peters A.M.E. Church and the City of Weirton.

Democratic Women to attend rally
WHEELING — The Hancock County Executive Committee and Democratic Women will participate in the No Kings Protest and Celebration of Flag Day rally from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at McDonald’s in Elm Grove.
The group will gather at the intersection of National Road and Kruger Street in Wheeling.
Signs, posters and American flags will be available at the event. All are welcome to attend.
Car Show coming to Weirton
WEIRTON — Head Turners, a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit car club, will hold its third-annual Neil C. Stewart Memorial Car, Truck and Bike Show from noon to 4 p.m. June 22 at West Virginia Northern Community College.
The college, located at 150 Park Ave. in Weirton, will be the site of various activities throughout the afternoon, including basket drawings, a 50/50 drawing, music, the awarding of trophies and a pinup girl contest. Food trucks will be on site.
For those who are interested in registering, the cost will be $10 and takes place from 10 a.m. to noon.
According to Jennifer Thompson, treasurer of the Head Turners Pittsburgh Chapter, proceeds from the event will be donated to a charity.
Turner explained the club’s most active member, Vice President Alexx Stewart, is a resident of the Weirton community. The show is being held in honor of Stewart’s father, who died suddenly.
All of the proceeds raised will be donated to various individuals throughout the area, officials said. The first charity event raised money for a young local girl battling leukemia. The second charity event raised money to help an area student obtain a scholarship and further their education.
Another scholarship will be donated to the Bud Stewart Scholarship Fund, which will assist an area student at WVNCC who is unable to afford the cost of college, Turner said.
“We will have muscle cars, exotics, classics, street, antique cars and much more,” Turner said.
“Dee jay Never Nice will return to emcee the event, and we will have plenty of awesomeness all day long,” Turner concluded.
Dash plaques and drivers bags will be given to the fist 100 cars, officials stated.

Center to hold Christmas in July
STEUBENVILLE — The Agape Church Worship Center will hold its annual Christmas in July event beginning at 6 p.m. July 12 at the center, located at 1310 Maryland Ave. in Steubenville.
The event will feature Rudolph’s Reindeer Parade and the second-annual Christmas bicycle parade. Clean up and decorate your bicycle to join the parade, which will go down the streets located on the Labelle Hilltop.
The event will start at the Agape Church and end in the snowy entrance of the church, officials stated.
There will be a bicycle challenge, trophies for the best decorated bike in each age group, Christmas caroling and free pizza and water.
All proceeds and donations will go toward the center’s outreach festivals and events.
