Highland Springs Ladies Golf League
The women of the Highland Springs Ladies Golf League kicked off their season Monday with play on the front nine holes.
In honor of Cinco de Mayo, players only counted five randomly-drawn holes for the score to count. Taking top honors were Laura Froehlich, first place; Yuko Atwell, second place; and Erin Ankrum, third place.
Ankrum recorded low putts for the round.
The nine-hole league is open to all women golfers. Play is held each Monday from May through September at the Highland Springs Golf Course, located in Wellsburg. Tee-off begins at 5 p.m. To sign up, call the clubhouse on the day of play by 3:30 p.m. at (304) 737-2201.
Town and Country Ladies Golf League
The Town and Country Ladies Golf League began it’s season May 1 with a scramble at Spring Hills Golf Course. Winners on the first-place team included: Cathy Jackson, Vicki Brozka, Michele Purviance and Dora Elizaga.
The second-place team consisted of Kathy Antinone, Linda Staffilino, Rose Kaczmarek and Nancy Lellie.
The third-place team included: Signa Findlay, Pat Zorne, Toni Dondzila and Marge Serafini.
The winners for the longest drive on hole No. 1 were: Kathy Antinone, A Flight; Kaczmarek, B Flight; and Lellie, C Flight.
The winners for the longest drive on hole No. 6 were: Jackson, A Flight; Elizaga, B Flight; and Serafini, C Flight.
