STEUBENVILLE — Students involved in Harding Middle School’s Drama Club have been following the yellow brick road as they prepare for this year’s spring musical, “The Wizard of Oz.”

The show is scheduled to take place at 7 p.m. May 16-17 inside the Steubenville High School auditorium.

Tickets will be $10 for adults and $8 for students.

Based on L. Frank Baum’s classic tale, the story centers around Dorothy and her dog, Toto, who set out on an adventure from Kansas to the Emerald City.

Along the way, they meet the Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion and Tin Man, all in search of something they need from the Wizard.

A matinée will be held for elementary students at 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

Director Abby Macre explained the cast is the largest to date, featuring 109 students involved with the show.

Members of the Steubenville High School Thespians are assisting with the production, she continued.

“The kids are having a lot of fun,” Macre said. “The high school tech class and theater department are assisting. Katie Riley and Nina Householder are assistant directors and getting hands-on experience working with students.”

Macre thanked SHS drama teacher Scott Wolodkin for his “endless help in bringing plans together.”

Leading the cast are Lucy Collaros as Dorothy, Isaiah Ramsey as Scarecrow, Nolan Greiner as the Tin Man, Robert Smith as the Cowardly Lion, Paige Shaddinger as Glinda, Lydia Battistel as the Wicked Witch, Everett Schrader as the Wizard, Lucciana Petrides as Auntie Em and Angelo Geary as Uncle Henry.
