Church to hold yard, bake sales

EAST SPRINGFIELD — The Church of the Cross, located at 7712 state Route 43 in East Springfield, will host a yard sale, along with a bake sale, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 17. All of the proceeds raised will benefit various mission projects, including the Operation Christmas Child Shoe Box Ministry, the Aim Women’s Center in Steubenville and the Friendship Room. The event will be held rain or shine, officials commented.

HCS Bank to hold seminar

CHESTER — Hancock County Savings Bank will host a complimentary fraud awareness seminar from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday in the community room of the Chester Volunteer Fire Department. Attendees are asked to use the side entrance to gain entry, located at 371 Carolina Ave.

The Lunch and Learn event will include an overview of artificial intelligence concerns and safeguards, according to officials. A light lunch and refreshments will be provided at no charge, along with door prizes and other giveaways. The seminars have proven popular in the past, officials noted. Retired school employees to meet

WEIRTON — The Hancock County Association of Retired School Employees will hold a meeting and luncheon at noon on May 20 at Undo’s Restaurant, located on Three Springs Drive in Weirton. To make a reservation, call (304) 748-7735 by Tuesday.

JUHS class plans 50-year reunion

RICHMOND — Jefferson Union High School’s Class of 1975 is continuing plans for its 50-year class reunion, which will be held at 5 p.m. Aug. 9 at Scaffidi’s Restaurant, located at 350 S. Hollywood Blvd. in Steubenville. The cost will be $50 per person.

Church to hold soup/sandwich sale

WELLSBURG — The Altar and Rosary Society of St. John Catholic Church in Wellsburg will hold its final soup and sandwich sale at 11 a.m. Wednesday. A different menu has been selected for this event, organizers noted. This fundraising menu will feature baked steak, mashed potatoes and a roll for $6. Italian hoagies, chicken salad croissants, coleslaw and macaroni salad will be available, as well as an assortment of desserts.
