SHS to hold mattress fundraiser
STEUBENVILLE — Students at Steubenville High School are raising money for its Big Red Pride PBIS initiative by holding its first mattress sale. Collaborating with Custom Fundraising Solutions of Cleveland, the proceeds will be used to promote a positive school environment. Students will take referrals for purchases and potential buyers will visit the school gym from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 17.
CFS representatives will have inventory of their selections on display, featuring a wide variety of brand-name mattresses, as well as adjustable bases, pillows, sheets and other accessories.
More than 25 new and made-to-order styles will be on display. All forms of payment will be accepted, including financing options. Orders will be placed at that time, with the mattress to be shipped to the buyer’s home.
“It’s different for a school fundraiser,” explained Principal Ted Gorman. “The CFS team does this all over the state of Ohio and they have been successful. We will get a portion of the proceeds on every mattress sold and there are a variety of mattresses available.” Not only does the school receive some of the proceeds, but students can earn gift cards for the mattresses sold through their referrals.
“The school’s money goes to the Big Red PRIDE Team for student rewards,” Gorman said. “We had a five-year grant that expired and had used funds for junior trips and food trucks. It’s a program that establishes a positive school culture, and this mattress fundraiser will support that.”
Gorman said the PBIS team is spreading the word on social media and through flyers to generate awareness and interest in the fundraiser.
