Cole Canterbury, a 2025 graduate of Madonna High School in Weirton, has been named this year’s recipient of the John Colesante Scholarship award. Colesante was a 1964 graduate of Madonna and a strong religious Christian who led by word and example. When confined to his nursing home, Colesante began holding Bible studies for residents. Classmates, along with his sister, Elane Renzelli of Wintersville, continue to fund the scholarship in his name. On hand to congratulate Canterbury was scholarship committee member Jim Pauchnik.
