Weirton to be site of upcoming car show
WEIRTON — Head Turners, a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit car club, will be holding its third-annual Neil C. Stewart Memorial Car, Truck and Bike Show from noon to 4 p.m. June 22 at West Virginia Northern Community College.
The college, located at 150 Park Ave. in Weirton, will be the site of various activities throughout the afternoon, including basket drawings, a 50/50 drawing, music, the awarding of trophies and a pinup girl contest.
Food trucks will be on site, as well.
For those interested in registering, the cost will be $10 and will take place from 10 a.m. to noon.
According to Jennifer Thompson, treasurer of Head Turners Pittsburgh Chapter, proceeds from the event are donated to a charity selected at the end of the show.
Turner explained the club’s most active member, Vice-President Alexx Stewart, is a resident of the Weirton community. The show is held in honor of Stewart’s father, whom he suddenly lost.
All of the proceeds raised are being donated to various individuals throughout the area, officials said.
The first charity event raised money for a young local girl battling leukemia.
The second charity event raised money that was donated toward helping an area student to obtain a scholarship and help further their education, according to officials.
This year, another scholarship will be given to the Bud Stewart Scholarship Fund, which assists a local student at WVNCC who is unable to afford the cost of college, Turner said.
“We will have muscle cars, exotics, classics, street, antique cars and much more,” Turner said.
“Dee jay Never Nice will return to emcee the event, and we will have plenty of awesomeness all day long,” Turner concluded.
Dash plaques and drivers bags will be given to the fist 100 cars, officials stated.
