Seniors welcome new club members

WEIRTON — Members of the International Senior Club met April 8 at Undo’s restaurant in Weirton.

Patty Coppa led those in attendance in prayer and provided the blessing prior to the meal.

Marcella Miller led the group in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

All members joined in the singing of “God Bless America.”

A sit-down dinner was enjoyed by the club, followed by dessert.

President Regina Truax began the meeting by introducing those who are new members of the International Senior Club.

New members include Tom Beecroft, Lyle Miller, Marcella Miller and David Lengyel.

Truax introduced guest Deanna Star, welcoming her to the April meeting.

Secretary Rita Orler read the minutes from the previous meeting, which were approved.

Norma Henson read the treasurer’s report, which was approved.

Entertainment was provided by Jack Giacomel, with music favorites from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s. Those in attendance danced to the electric slide, the cha-cha and free style.

Happy birthday was sung to members celebrating a birthday in April, including Liz Beecroft, Carol Wisnieski, Faye Jones, Gene Viola, John Sims, Barbara Guglielmo, Pauline Tortis and Sharon Griam.

Happy anniversary was sung to Delores and Leonard Ginier, who celebrated 69 years together, and to Sharon and Gary Graim, on 49 years of marriage.

Beecroft provided the joke of the day.

Truax announced the following bus tours, scheduled for the coming months: Atlantic City, Bally’s Casino, May 18-21; Sugarcreek, June 27; Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center, Midland, Pa., “Sister Act,” June 29; Hartville Market Place and Flea Market, Hartsville, July 18; Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Chicago White Sox, PNC Park, Pittsburgh, July 20; Everett Railroad and Western Maryland Scenic Railroad, Hollidaysburg, Pa., and Cumberland, Md., July 23-25; and Seneca Resorts and Casino, Niagara Falls, Sept. 24-26.

The 50/50 drawing was won by MaryAnn Whelan; Undo’s gift certificates were won by Linda Aloi and Guglielmo; an Easter wreath made by Truax was won by Orler; and door prize winners of gift cards went to Patty Beltrame, Ginier and Orler.
