Library announces upcoming activities/events

STEUBENVILLE — The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County has announced its upcoming activities and events planned for the week of May 4-10.

Bring your family to Beatty Park and read together at the new StoryWalk event. May’s featured book will be “The Home Builders,” by Varsha Bajaj. When you have finished, visit the Main Library for children to receive a prize.

Adults: Don’t let the bad guys win. Tara Trickett will lead attendees in a cybersecurity class, teaching the necessary skills in which to digitally defend yourself. The class will be held at noon on May 8. Register in advance to attend.

The Deep Dive Book Club will meet at 5:30 p.m. May 6 and May 20 to discuss “Prayer for the Crown,” by Becky Chambers. Register to attend.

Children: Children’s Book Week will take place May 5-10. Stop in to receive a free book. One book is permitted, per family.

Learn what distinguishes a children’s classic at 6 p.m. May 8. Register to attend.

Visit the library between May 5-10 to play the Guess Who children’s book edition. Complete the game and be entered to win a prize.

Children: Pick up a grab-and-go bag to make a Mother’s Day craft, beginning May 9, while supplies last.

Make a squishmallow painting at 3 p.m. May 10. Register to attend.

Adults: The Thriller Book Club will meet at 10 a.m. May 6 to discuss “Ninth House,” by Leigh Bardugo. Call to join.

May the 4th be with you. While supplies last, pick up a grab-and-go bag to make an X-Wing Fighter and a Tie Fighter at home.

Babygarten, a lap-sit program for parents and children ages birth to 2, will be held at 10:30 a.m. May 8.
