Church to hold rummage sale

WINTERSVILLE — The Wintersville Methodist Church, located at 702 Main St., will hold a large rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the Center for Hope. Clothing, books, toys, furniture and electronics will be sold. A concession stand will be available to purchase food.

Career Parade set for Friday

CHESTER — Allison Elementary School will hold a Career Parade at 9 a.m. Friday in Chester. The event features area businesses and their vehicles, organizers said. Past parades were a success, with about 40 vehicles taking part. This is an opportunity to expose students to the diverse career options available in the community. A Touch-a-Truck event will take place following the parade at Chester City Park.

Foraging class to be held Saturday

WELLSBURG — Master Gardeners with the West Virginia University Extension Service will present a free class on foraging at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Brooke County Public Library. Information will be shared by Walter “Ramp King” Danna, “Wild” Liize Harper and Heather Tokas, who will discuss elderberries, plantains, ramps, dandelions, purslane, yarrow and chickweed.

Ron Retzer Trio in Richmond

RICHMOND — A 90-minute gospel concert featuring the Ron Retzer Trio will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Richmond Methodist Church, located at 212 S. Sugar St. in Richmond. Doors will open at 5 p.m. The ecumenical community event is being sponsored by the Richmond United Presbyterian Church and supported by the Richmond Methodist Church, which will provide refreshments following the concert.

Bethany to hold lecture

BETHANY — The community is invited to join Bethany College for its 2025 Oreon E. Scott Lectures, featuring the Rev. Ted A. Smith as keynote speaker.

The event, which fosters theological dialogue and growth, will be held Monday and Tuesday at the First Christian Church in Washington, Pa.

The event includes discussions and intellectual and spiritual enrichment through lectures and question-and-answer sessions. The series has been a part of the college’s legacy since 1956.

The registration fee will be $65 for participants and $30 for seminarians, with a $30 Zoom option available. For information, contact Lori Weaver, vice president of institutional advancement, marketing and communications, at lweaver@bethanywv.edu.

Brooke Democrats announce meetings

WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Democratic Executive Committee and Brooke County Democratic Women will hold their monthly meeting for May at 6 p.m. May 14. The June meeting will be held at 6 p.m. June 11. Both meetings will take place at the Wellsburg Library. The meeting nights were changed due to a conflict in schedule, officials announced, apologizing for any inconvenience.

All Democrats are welcome to attend.
