Woman’s Club meets and makes donations

STEUBENVILLE — Members of the OFWC, GFWC, Woman’s Club of Steubenville, met for their monthly meeting on March 3 at the Steeple Chase Lodge off Lovers Lane in Steubenville.

At the beginning of the meeting, attendees learned more about their annuities and investments, following a brief meeting with Eugene Zrinyi from Tri-State Financial Services.

Following Zrinyi’s financial report with the women, President Iris Craig welcomed those in attendance, including the group’s newest member, Joan Clarke.

Among the issues members discussed at the top of the agenda was a suggestion to serve as one of the sponsors for the Sycamore Youth Center’s fundraising dinner.

Following a vote, members agreed to approve endorsing the purchase of a table at the cost of $500.

The group also agreed upon making two $250 donations to a teacher at a local elementary school and a teacher at a local high school as part of the Adopt- a-Teacher program.

During the meeting, strong support was offered to club member Kimberly Hahn.

Hahn will have her name placed on the primary ballot in May, running for the office of Steubenville mayor.

Officials announced the group will hold its next meeting at 1 p.m. on April 7 at the Steeple Chase Lodge.

Mary Albaugh, founder and CEO of Amazing Grace Pillowcases Inc., will be the afternoon’s guest speaker.

Albaugh founded the nonprofit organization 12 years ago this April.

The pillowcase ministry launched on April 30, 2013.

The agency is dependent upon donated fabrics and volunteers to assist in sewing “bright, colorful pillowcases” for sick children, the homeless and the sadly forgotten, nursing home residents who are lonely and veterans of the Armed Forces.

The nonprofit’s mission is to brighten the lives of these individuals “one case at a time,” officials previously stated.
