Shamrock Shakes back to help
STEUBENVILLE — McDonald’s has brought back its Shamrock Shake, a seasonal treat that helps to support families in need.
From Monday through March 13, every 25 cents from the sale of a Shamrock Shake will be donated to Pittsburgh and Morgantown Ronald McDonald House Charities, officials announced.
McDonald’s hopes to raise $5 million through these donations, which could provide 50,000 overnight stays for families utilizing the RMHC programs.
Included in these efforts are the Ronald McDonald Houses, which provide families comfort, support and a place to stay while their child receives medical care at a nearby facility.
Because this moment is about keeping families together, two members of the McDonald’s family are reuniting for the first time in decades.
Grimace and his uncle, Uncle O’Grimacey, will be traveling coast-to-coast, spreading Shamrock cheer with fans everywhere.
The duo will be celebrating McDonald’s mission of keeping families together through the Ronald McDonald Houses, according to officials.
Organizers of the upcoming events explained fans can don special Uncle O’Grimacey merchandise, including T-shirts, baseball caps and crewnecks.
The swag is available for pre-sale at goldenarchesunlimited.com.
McDonald’s will make an additional donation to the RMHC with the purchase of online apparel, officials stated.
“Our long-standing tradition of the Shamrock Shake is a testament to the joy we bring to our customers,” stated Michael Gonda, chief impact officer.
“This year, we are getting back to the first fundraiser that started our incredible partnership with RMHC,” Gonda added. “This Shamrock Shake season, with a little extra cheer from the Grimace family, we’re reminded that the most precious gift is being close to those you love.”
