Libraries announce upcoming plans and events

STEUBENVILLE — The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County has announced its upcoming events and activities scheduled for the week of March 2-8.

Teens and Adults: The Deep Dive Book Club will meet at 5:30 p.m. March 4 and March 18 to discuss the book “Ella Enchanted,” by Gail Carson Levine.

A Tai Chi class for adults will be offered at 10 a.m. every Thursday. This mindful, slow-movement class will be taught by Mike Turrentine. Spacing to practice will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Children: Turn a T-shirt into a pillow at 6 p.m. March 6. Advanced registration is required. Participants will need to bring a clean T-shirt to work with, officials noted.

Children: Play and Learn the Alphabet will be held for parents and their children between the ages of 2 and 6 at 11:30 a.m. March 6. Participants will play with toys that help develop early literacy skills. Stop in to make a St. Patrick’s Day craft at 5:30 p.m. March 6. Call to participate.

Children: Pick up a grab-and-go Story Time March 3. Each bag contains an activity to do at home, and the book “Crazy Hair Day,” by Barney Satzberg.

Tot Time will be held at 11:30 a.m. March 6. This activity is for parents who have children between the ages of 2 to 4. Stories, songs and an activity are some of the program’s highlights.

Adults: Make a spring welcome sign at 3 p.m. March 8. Register to attend.

Adults: Paint and decorate a wood shelf sitter at 5 p.m. March 4. Register to attend.

The Thriller Book Club will meet at 10 a.m. March 4 to discuss the book “Deceived,” by Irene Hannon.

Teens: It’s Game Night at the library, where teenagers can stop in at any time between 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. March 5 to meet new friends and explore new games. The event is for those between the ages of 11 and 17. Register to play.

Children: Tot Time will be held for parents who have children between the ages of 2 and 4. The activity will be held on various days throughout the week, and feature books, songs and rhymes. Preregistration is not required.

Tot Time will be offered at 4 p.m. Mondays, including March 3, March 24 and March 31.

Tuesdays class will begin at 10 a.m. on March 4 and March 25. Parents are asked to sign in at the children’s desk prior to class. If the class is full, an additional class will be offered the following hour, officials noted.

Wednesdays class will be held at 10 a.m. on March 5 and March 26.
