St. Agnes Women thank Madden

MINGO JUNCTION — The St. Agnes Catholic Woman’s Club met Dec. 17, with members enjoying a potluck dinner that was preceded by the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance and a blessing over the meal.
President Theresa Madden thanked everyone for the dinner, after which she went over a list of how one says “Merry Christmas” in various languages. Those in attendance attempted to identify the language of each. Members participated in a prayer service that was led by Kathy Flippo, Karen Giuliani and Theresa Jurasko.
The business portion of the meeting began with the roll call of officers, all of which were present. There were 26 members in attendance, it was noted. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved, along with the treasurer’s report being provided and approved.
Madden thanked those who worked during the funeral luncheon for Marty Connor. Thank-you notes from Rose Walsh and Peter Stetson were read.
Madden reminded those gathered to remember the homebound for Christmas. She announced all pumpkin rolls were sold, with 1,163 rolls being made.
Hostesses for the January meeting were announced, with Michelle Trikones and Michele Fabbro filling the role. Door prizes will be donated by Kathy Hoover.
Flippo recognized those who celebrated a birthday in the month of December, including Eileen Moody, Cheryl Mayle, Karen DellaPenna, Michelle Dickey and Joann Babela. Happy birthday was sung and gifts were presented.
The Service Commission consisting of Debbie Riccardo and Carrie Petrozzi, reported that Bay 6 was very appreciative for the group’s desserts and those who helped serve at the nonprofit’s Thanksgiving event. Paula Robson commented St. Agnes really came through for the Bay 6 event. Joann Babela added the woman who picked up the gifts was very happy with all the donations that were provided.
Madden presented the Rev. Jim Dunfee with a blow-up Grinch. Riccardo presented Madden with a nativity plaque for all that she does for the club and the community. Dunfee led the group in a closing prayer and gave a blessing before adjournment. Riccardo led the ladies in a gift-exchange game, which provided fun and laughter following the conclusion of the meeting.
