JVS students place at competition

The Jefferson County Joint Vocational School’s FFA Chapter earned sixth place in the Eastern National Veterinary Science Competition held in Springfield, Mass during the fall. Members included, from left, Kat Grizzel, Katelyn Cain, adviser Emily Moore, Kyleigh Haines and Mya Keenan. Enrolled in the animal science program, the seniors competed against 11 teams in their category, during the Eastern States Exposition, also known as the Big E, which focuses on agriculture. Competition topics included equipment and breed identification, skills demonstration and written and math exams. Moore noted she was “delighted the team had the opportunity to showcase their knowledge.”
