WINTERSVILLE — Those at Indian Creek Middle School are excited to be welcoming back the Sycamore Stars after-school program. The program is now in its second semester, set to begin Jan. 27. Funded by the 21st Century Grant, the program offers students a dynamic mix of academic support, creative exploration and personal growth opportunities.
To help celebrate the start of the semester, Heavenly Coach will be hosting a pizza party on the first day of the program, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for students. Running after school until 5 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays, the Sycamore Stars program will provide a well-rounded schedule that is tailored to meet the diverse interests and needs of its students, according to Bobbyjob Bauman, program director.
Academic sessions such as Math Power Hour and ELA Express offer focused tutoring, while creative classes such as Rock the Beat and Drama Queens and Kings allow students to explore their talents in music and theater.
Practical skills are emphasized through sessions such as Life Hacks 101 and Chef’s Corner, while innovative offerings including Young Entrepreneurs and Innovation Lab encourages critical thinking and creativity, Bauman explained. The program supports students’ overall well-being with sessions that feature Chill and Chat for social-emotional learning, along with fun activities such as Game On! Each day will conclude with Team Spirit Time, which fosters teamwork and camaraderie. Snacks and hands-on cooking experiences are a part of the daily routine as well.
“This semester marks an exciting milestone for Sycamore Stars with the introduction of limited transportation, which is provided by Heavenly Coach,” Bauman said. “We are thrilled to be offering transportation for the first time at Indian Creek Middle School. It’s a game-changer for families, and our new class schedule is dynamite. It is packed with opportunities to help students grow academically, socially and creatively.” Parents can register their student online at sycamorecenter.churchcenter.com/people/forms/792231. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged.
“With its comprehensive offerings and focus on growth and engagement, the Sycamore Stars program is a wonderful opportunity for middle-school students to thrive,” Bauman concluded. “Do not miss out. Sign up today and let your student shine with Sycamore Stars this semester.”
