Buckeye North offering shopping

BRILLIANT — Holiday shopping opportunities will be available at Buckeye North Elementary School this weekend. Officials announced the event will take place from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. The North Elementary Parent Teacher Organization will hold its first Christmas Craft and Vendor Show in the school’s gymnasium. More than 30 vendors will offer a variety of gift ideas.

Jen Stenger, vision impairment aide and PTO member who is organizing the show, said the event is another activity community members can take part in prior to the Brilliant Christmas parade, scheduled for that afternoon.

“We have a little bit of everything,” Stenger said. “There is a nice variety of T-shirts, wreaths, handmade candles and lotions, wooden items, tumblers and embroidery.”

Among the local vendors participating are Becky’s Crafts, Stenger Sublimation & Style, Donna’s Wreaths and Sewing, B’s Barkery, Machine Embroidery by Georgi, Baking by Toni Fillippi, Oak Lane Designs, The Crafty Musicmaker, Color Street & Sweet Skye Creations, Bare Skin Naturals, Parr’s Treasures, Slaters Creations, Brittany Schaeffer’s Books and Blankets, Samantha’s Wicked Wicks, Pam and Kerri’s Homemade Joy, Crafty Queen, Jayna’s Jazzy Jewels, Koonce Woodworking, Tupperware in the Country with Emilee, Cole’s Crafty Clay, Edie’s Crafts, Charlene’s Bling Boutique/Paparazzi, Rustic Charm, Paintings by Donna, Alliance 3D Printing, LLC, Pampered Chef with Heather, Becky’s Bags, Maggie O’s and Tastefully Simple by Tracie.

Stenger, a longtime crafter herself, has participated in area shows and made connections with other vendors, enabling her to plan the upcoming event. She said this is the first time for the school’s vendor show, but noted the PTO conducted an Easter Basket Bingo last year that proved successful.

“I work here, my kids are here and I went to school here,” she said. “I craft as well, and I thought the day of the parade would be perfect. I hope it will become an annual event.”

A concession stand will be on hand to warm up show participants and parade-goers when Brilliant’s celebration gets underway at 4 p.m. The parade begins outside the school on Third Street.

Stenger said PTO members will sell hot drinks, hot dogs, chili dogs and nachos. Proceeds from the show and concession will benefit the PTO, which supports field trips, school dances and other activities.
