Library to begin holding children’s holiday-related activities and events

STEUBENVILLE — The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County will hold its annual Nutcracker StoryWalk along North Fourth Street in downtown Steubenville beginning Nov. 26.

A treasure map can be picked up at the Main Library branch or at Leonardo’s Coffeehouse.

Participants will follow the trail of book pages that have been hidden among the life-size nutcrackers on North Fourth Street, organizers stated.

Once the pages have been read, children can visit the Main Library and receive their holiday surprise. The StoryWalk concludes Jan. 10.

Elves will be arriving at all library branches beginning Nov. 29.

Children can enter into a contest to try to win a holiday book from their local library branch.

According to organizers, children can stop by their nearest library and tell officials where they saw the elf on the shelf or tell them what the elf was doing. Winners of the drawings will be held Dec. 27.

Children 12 and younger can pick up a holiday packet containing puzzles and a reading challenge between Nov. 29 and Dec. 21. Once the packet has been completed, it can be returned to one’s nearest library no later than Dec. 21 for a chance to win a $50 Amazon gift card. Winning names will be drawn on Dec. 27.

Library officials announced additional events and activities planned in the coming weeks.
