Area schools to honor veterans during planned Veterans Day activities

JEFFERSON COUNTY — Area schools will recognize Veterans Day with a series of events planned for Monday.

At Edison Local, John Gregg Elementary will host its annual breakfast at 8:40 a.m., followed by an assembly which includes music with special wording. All area veterans are invited to attend.

Edison High School will hold its 35th-annual Veterans Day assembly at 10 a.m., featuring patriotic music, messages and speakers which include Tony Kovalesky, David Schultz and Andy Lesnansky, and members of the Richmond American Legion Post 740.

Stanton Elementary will welcome past service members in the school auditorium at 1:30 p.m. Students will share presentations which feature music and messages.

Hills Elementary School in the Indian Creek Local School District will hold an assembly at 9:30 a.m. Thursday. A reception is planned for veterans, along with a program led by music teacher Aimee Simpson-Carroll, Student Senate Adviser Ashley Turnbull and Principal Erin Alloggia.

The school choir will sing patriotic songs and members of the Student Senate will perform readings.
